  1. I have recently enrolled once again into the master’s program at Walden University. We are currently studying characteristics of teachers’ professional development. One of those characteristics is collaborating with colleagues on a professional basis. The main thing to realize is that we are responsible for our students and thereby should want the best for them and our colleagues. This can be accomplished as teachers meet to share their expertise and experiences as to what works best for students' success. Teachers must spend quality time without the students to accomplish the goal of talking about students in a review fashion and not for ridicule. The work must be continuous and the teacher must be given the opportunity to use it in the classroom. This places learning in the context of doing the work. As a result, professional develop occurs as teachers learn from and interact with each other collaboratively in a positive manner.
